Chicken Marsala - ask for it medium if you don't like spicy food. Also, water is best to drink with Indian food - it won't mask the flavor.

Garlic Naan (warm flat bread)

I love the flat breads and the papads (or papadums). Some places will have a Thali Set, where you can sample a little of everything. Pakoras are great too. It also depends on the restaurant and chef if anything is good. Just like Chinese food, there are all sorts of different kinds of Indian food with regional specialties. It's a vast country. North West East South, you may enjoy Eastern Indian but not Western, you never know. Try it all I say.

Depends on how spicy you like things or whether or not you like curry. Biriyani and curry are good as main dishes. For appetizers go with naan or samosas. Bismati rice is a good plain side dish to have if you're having something spicy. (Milk, bread or rice is supposed to be better than drinking water, which will actually spread the spice around.)

Sweet or mango lassis are popular drinks. I love Indian food myself

Chicken, Lamb Biryani
Chicken Tandoori
Rogan josh
Peswari Naan - Naan filled with sweet coconut and raisins, to die for
Just about everything.
Even if you want water, ask for a Mango Lassi before your meal. Simply the loveliest way to drink yoghurt.

a phaal if you like b@stard hot food, lamb rogan josh if medium heat or chicken tandoori if mild. dhal is great as a side dish if you like lentils and peshwari naans are the best. mango chutney is good for cooling your mouth down [if youve overdone it] and tastes good too.
