I just went to the doctors yesterday for the same problem. Its your sinuses. If the color of the mucus is yellowish then its a sinus infection which in that case you need antibiotics. If its not yellowish its still your sinuses and you need a antihistamine and a decongestant to help.

probably a post nasal drip through the night. You might try a decongestant before bed.
