Well first off..Your doctor is kinda stupid if he gave you an ANTIBIOTIC for a VIRAL infection...I would stop the antibiotic first..If you have a fever of 100 to 101 alternate drugs (Tylenol,Ibuprofen) take a dose of Tylenol then wait at least 4 hours..Then take Ibuprofen wait 4 hours then do it over again...For the drainage get a Sinus medication with an nasal suppressant... This is what you need to get from the store....Remember if a fever is present for more than a week you need to go back to the doctor...Make sure you contact your doctor before you stop your antibiotic and be sure that he diagnosed you with the correct condition..
Benadryl-D will help the drainage also....

Full a big pot of water. Put it on the stove and set it on the lowest just before the flame goes out. In 15 minutes go stand over the pot for five minutes ate a time. You should start hacking mucus that you MUST spit out into the toilette. DO NOT SWALLOW this back. That would be the same as "Saving your Ugh". Make sure that you are not taking the antibiotic on an empty stomach. Even if you eat saltine crackers, that's ok. Get this vitamine called Flax Seed oil. It's right a Walgreens for about 5-7.99. Looks like vitamin E.

I just read something about the benefits of green tea.. it said it helps fight off viruses. Hot tea may also soothe your throat if its sore. Theres also Mucinex, which you can get anywhere, that helps clear the drainage in your throat (no prescripion necessary).

The fever is a sign that your body is fighting off the virus, so get plenty of rest and let your body fight it off. Stay hydrated and try to eat healthy foods, they have antioxidants and other nutrients that will help your body fight this thing off.
Hope this helps and hope you feel better soon!

They said you have a viral infection and gave you antibiotics? Guess what? Antibiotics do nothing for viruses, they only work on bacterial infection. Suggest you either get another doctor, or treat that virus yourself with Zicam nasal swabs, drinking alot of fluids and getting enough rest.

*Go to bed.
*Drink water when you are thirsty.
*Steaming (as described earlier) might be helpful, as would having a warm bath or a hot shower (but make sure you go right into a warm bed from there and don't hang about getting chilled).
*The suggestion to hack up your phlegm and not suck it back is a good one.
*Chicken soup is good.
*Stay away from all dairy and eggs (milk, COCOA, ice cream, etc.) since they will just add to the mucus build-up and you don't need that, I don't think.
*Rub any of the following pure, unadulterated essential oils on your chest: Melaleuca, Eucalyptus, Oregano, Thyme, or Ravensara. Blend these with a carrier oil-- I would suggest Virgin Coconut Oil. The esssential oils oxygenate your blood and raise your body's electrical vibration. Sick folks have a low vibration, pure essential oils have a high vibration... simple: raise your vibration.
*Make the following synergistic blend of essential oils and put them on 2 tissues. Put the tissues in a pair of socks and wear them in bed:
2 drops Cinnamon
2 drops Nutmeg
4 drops Ginger
10 drops Eucalyptus
*Swab a drop of essential oil around the outside of each ear hole (not directly in it). Eucalyptus or Melaleuca is good to put there. Remember that the eustation tube connects up so you usually have mucusal infections going on in several different sites.
*Go back to bed.

All the Best!

See another doctor. Meanwhile, try drinking hot tea and use steam to help with the cough and drainage.

Good luck and feel better!
