They are usually itchy to start and then can be extremely painful. They can look anytrhing from a scratch, barely visble to an open sore much like a chanker sore that you get in your mouth. They are not always visibly obvious, its more you would notice from how you felt. Outbreaks can often make you sick to your stomach as well. The first outbreak may even make you feel flu like.

Please pay no attention to JB, if you have not already discovered that he is an obvious fraud. I assure you, from the answers he has given in yours and other posts, he is nothing more than a child doing its best to harass you for jollies.

The "bump" that you've got could quite possibly be genital herpes. However, as you said, it could also be an ingrown hair follicle or any other number of harmless lesions that are not sexually transmitted. From your simple description here, I am not convinced that you have herpes unless this "bump" is only a few hours old. Herpes typically expresses more symptoms, and has much more "to do" in its first outbreak.

Look up herpes in Wikipedia, and it will give you a general overview of the stages and various signs and symptoms. My recommendation to you would be to relax, and permit your healthcare provider to do the diagnosis. Driving yourself crazy poking, prodding, and being paranoid about every little zit isn't going to change anything or help you in any way. You will not be able to diagnose herpes on your own, so don't try; just let the professionals do their job. Make an appointment and keep it.

From there you will learn all you need to know about any possible condition and your options. Don't delay seeking professional diagnosis, it'll give you the peace of mind which you're seeking.

omg, I have exactly the same thing,

I went to a doctor tho and she took a look at it for me.

She said it looks like an infection and gave me some cream and said to try not to use razors down there as they are more likely to spread infections and it's better to wax.
