I have a friend who is a strict vegetarian who splats flys, spiders and wasps and most creepy crawlies. Surely that's wrong.

To me, its wrong, but its up to them.

The definition of the word vegetarian does not include any lifestyle morals - its just about diet.

Accidental killing, such as roadkill, is regretable but unavoidable....by the nature of it being an accident it cannot be foreseen nor avoided.

Many meateaters criticise veggies for this, however to me its just a distraction because they cannot justify thier position so they fight the veggie morals with extreme arguements - a sure sign that the meateaters have no valid arguement.

Lump it in with "god said eat meat", "we've got canine teeth", " i don't actually kill it so its ok" and "where would all the animals go"

meateters need to be honest with themselves. they are responsible for death, pain and cruelty. Once they admit that, we can start to have a sensible debate.

nick C ( above ) : if you are going to call veggies hypocrites nad our beliefs BS at least have the decency to learn what being a Vegetarian means first before launching into such tripe.

Definitions

A vegetarian is someone living on a diet of grains, pulses, nuts, seeds, vegetables and fruits with or without the use of dairy products and eggs (preferably free-range).

A vegetarian does not eat any meat, poultry, game, fish, shellfish or crustacea, or slaughter by-products such as gelatine or animal fats.

Obviously one person cannot answer on behalf of all the vegetarians. Personally, if there is something gross crawling on me my first instinct is to smash it (especially mosquitoes). But on the other hand, lady bugs always get into my house in the fall and I always try to capture them and take them outside (even though I know they'll probably die anyway from the cold).
I have vast gardens and I know the spiders, bees and ladybugs are my allies.

there is not any "allowed" and you don't get "banned from the club." the human beings asserting to "kill yet no longer devour", make no experience. So, a vegetarian can go purchase meat for themselves, as long as they do no longer devour it? No, because of the fact destroys the purpose. the beef production facility does not understand no count in case you devour it, they in basic terms realize it replaced into taken off the shelf, so which you're helping it. in case you kill the animal, [and you a veg*n for the animals] you're going against what you're for, till it particularly is the case the place the computer virus replaced into poisonous or a mosquito replaced into biting you and ought to hold ailment, and so forth. Then that's appropriate to kill it to your protection. [Plus, in case you died, you need to no longer proceed assisting extra animals. ;D] If a shark replaced into attempting to devour you, and you had a thank you to evade it, you will would desire to do it to stay to tell the tale. So, be functional, and shop your self risk-free. If a computer virus or rodent is in basic terms innocently scurrying/flying around, then the terrific thought would be to seize it in a fashion that did no longer harm you or the animal, and unfastened it outdoors. whilst i replaced into little or no, i did no longer like roaches, yet I even have grown to realize, they are in basic terms like another insect. Or animal. And so I now seize them in cups and unfastened them outdoors as nicely. i think of the main reason human beings are fearful of them is ; human beings worry what they do no longer understand, or can't assume. in case you persist with that concept to this occasion..that's clever. The animal is so small, rapid, element legs for an insect, probable can fly, a mouse continues to be small and has an superb, unsightly feeling tail, and so forth. So, we don't understand the way it particularly is going to act. We would possibly no longer understand that approximately different animals the two, yet we are able to narrate to them extra constructive/discover them lovable/and so forth.

People become vegetarians for many different reasons. I do it for purely ethical reasons, and I do not swat bugs--I just ignore them or trap them and move them outside. I would consider myself to be on the more extreme end of vegetarians, though. You shouldn't judge your friend for swatting bugs. He/she is doing so much good already by being a vegetarian. Nobody is perfect.

Being vegetarian is a personal decision and a personal code of eating. There isn't a veggie police force that controls what vegetarians are allowed to do. Vegetarians can do what ever they want to, including eating meat...... although they wouldn't be vegetarian anymore, we don't like take them out and beat them if they have a steak craving.

Depends on what the reasons are for being vegetarian. If it's for diet then it doesn't matter. But if it's animal rights then you shouldn't because after all, insects are animals too, so should be included in that category.

There are no "laws" regarding vegetarianism. To each their own. Anything that is eating me or spreading disease to me gets a date with Mr. Squisher. Others are caught and released.
