It depends on the resolution of the picture amd how many megapixal the camera is. On average 40-140. 40 being high resolution with a 6 megapixal camera and 140 being high resolution with a 2 megapixal camera. When in doubt I always guess less than half of what the card size is, just to be safe.

You can buy a larger memory card cheaper now especially with the holidays here.

Definately go with a bigger storage card. You might get maybe 25-30 pictures out of the 128MB with the 8.1 camera. You can get a 1GB in some of the stores and they have mail in rebates, some don't or a buy one get one free. Good luck.

I imagine quite a lot! But I heard a 128MB memory card can hold about 100 pictures with a 3.2 megapixel digital camera shot with the maximum quality.

From one resource is the following info:

This is dependent on the format in which the picture data are stored, the compression algorithm (if any) used, and the contents of the photograph. As a very rough rule of thumb, you can probably figure on 1.0 to 1.2 MB per image using high-quality JPEG format. This would provide you with about 100 to 125 images. If you shoot in RAW format, your image will typically require over 5 MB and you can expect about 20 images. Uncompressed TIFF images could require as much as 10 MB each, leaving you with just about 10 images on the card. Lossless TIFF compression formats consume less, but the amount is very dependent on the picture contents. Pick the highest quality image format that you can tolerate and consider how much control you want over the output. I have a 5 MP camera and use the highest quality JPEG format for snapshots and RAW format for anything serious.

And from another place:

Memorex 128 MB SmartMedia card is largest memory size available for smartmedia.

Buy a card with more memory. Like was shown by to answers Your camera at it's BEST setting is 8 Megapixels will only give you about 30 to 35 shots. I myself wouldn't lessen the quality of a picture by using a lower MP setting on your camera but buy more memory in your memory card.

You really need to buy a larger memory card, as 128MB will only allow approx. 30-40 photos.
You should always take photos using the best quality resolution available...and I would recommend a minimum card of 512MB-1GB. Don't forget that shooting 'movies' requires a large amount of memory, and that's why 1GB would be the optimum size.

ok verify it out guy. i'm hoping its a clean digicam that got here with a loose 128MB card. right that is why: Cameras and all forms of electronics positioned a decrease on the most important length card suited for it. in case your digicam is older than possibly it doesnot settle for memory playing cards large than. . . oh i dont understand. . . (relying on how previous). . . 512MBs. more recent cameras in many circumstances like 8gigs or a lot less. supply this international 5 extra years and there'll be a 16 or 32GB card in each factor and shoot digicam. besides thats not important at present. the point is you want to parent out in case your digicam will comprehend a a million-2 gigabite memory card beforehand you get one. the answer for your question: a 1Gig (1GB) card will carry bout 8 circumstances more beneficial than your 128MB card. And a 2GB will carry about two times as a lot because the 1GB. what number image will they carry: nicely it relies upon on the dimensions of the jpeg image your digicam takes. this can selection from 1MB to mmmhh probably 6MBs. So yah imagine of this. one GB = about a million,000 MBs. the bigger the cardboard the extra use you receives out of it. right that is why I say that: the cardboard comes with a motive force taking on area on the cardboard (a motive force is a application that enables one hardware to seek for suggestion from with yet another ie your computing gadget for your memory card). which will take in x quantity of area in case you get a 512MB card or a 2GB card (assuming its the same application). Ltes say thye software is 20MB. . . on a 128MB card 20MB is like 10 or 20 p.c. of the totaly area. On a 2GB card its not some thing. . . its a fragment of a p.c.. besides the point of all that is: parent out in case your digicam will settle for a larger memory card and if it does then bypass purchase one. i purchased a 2BG memory card for 12 money (that replaced into on the most cutting-edge black friday).

Call the store and ask them and at which resolution. At 8.1 You won't get that many .Alot of 512mb and 1gb cards have been on sale recently.I doubt many people would buy an 8 MPxl camera and lower the resolution. For high res. like yours go for the 1GB card. You will be happier.

It depends on what camera it is,and the setting it is on. To get the most pics it should be on a lower quality setting and ma bey set it to 640 x 480. Being an 8.1 mp camera the pics will still look good.
