From time to time, my wife is trying to find a recipe that she had seen earlier in one of her 40 cookbooks or cooking articles. She gets really stressed if she can't find it. She NEEDS to find it, even though she isn't planning on cooking it any time soon. She won't come to bed. OCD??

OCD is not about obsessing about finding a single missing object. OCD people perform "rituals" that comfort them. Hand washing, door locking, counting, doing things in a certain order ALL the time and becoming distressed when prevented from performing their "rituals" are examples of OCD behaviors. Some OCD people are clean and neat freaks and some are total messy pack rats. The issue here is that they are extreme in these behaviors. Your wife is NOT OCD.

Not likely that she has OCD. Perhaps she was looking for it for a friend or extended family member. My wife has approximately 1,500 cookbooks. But only has a few recipies she actually uses.

Having 1,500 cook books and always adding to the collection, is what i would call OCD and or just plain craziness.
