Where ever you decide to go, visit for a week. I lived in Atlanta and it was fun, except the traffic between 5pm and 7pm is worse than anything NYC can throw at you.

Miami is nice too, except in the summer when you have to stay inside because of the humidity.

I'm 28 and I felt the same way about two years ago. I'm pretty fed up with the NYC routine as well. I really started thinking about moving to New Orleans for awhile for a change of scenery/weather even though it's still a big bar town. Everyone I knew there was having so much fun and could afford to rent an entire house. But, we all know what ended up happening there...so, I'm still in Brooklyn.

I keep hearing amazing things about Austin and there seems to be a lot of people here that came from/lived in Austin and they continue to rave about it. A few people I know moved back because they said it was better then NYC. I could never live in TX but I really think it's a city you should consider.

Yeah, I've been wondering the same thing. Places I've considered:

Asheville, NC:
pros: beautiful, great weather, same social/political attitude as NYC, friendly people, oh and did I mention beautiful?
cons: the rest of the state is kind of redneck, and not many jobs.

Austin, TX:
Pros: Good party/music scene, good shopping, lots to do
Cons: It gets really, really hot. And some of the people I know from there kind of suck, but that doesn't really mean anything...

Flagler Beach, FL:
Pros: I grew up there. The summers are sort of moderated by the ocean, and the winters are great. You can drive right along the ocean and it's so pretty at night.
Cons: I grew up there.

Also considered Vancouver or Toronto in Canada... Toronto is too cold for my taste but Vancouver is so pretty. They are both really expensive, though, and Vancouver is too rainy. :(

"austin, houston, san diego" - don't expect to escape the traffic or to have much more of a low cost life in those places.. while they are nice, if your trying to save money try a slightly smaller town like Amirillo, TX or Jackson, MS... and Savannah, GA is just beautiful, and its plenty hot there most of the year. =)

Im kind of fed up with NYC as well, but if I move out of NYC i would rather move out of the country. I'd like to experience a new culture.
