Don't give cash. Too impersonal.
Either buy something for $10 (scratch off lottery tickets are a great idea), or a gift card for a store or restaurant.

Don't give cash, if you really do not know what to get , then a gift card will do. I don't know the co-workers gender so one from best buy would be a good bet, that way they can get a movie or CD.

Go to a walmart. You'd be amazed at the inexpensive gifts you can find for under 10 bucks. This would be fine for a co-worker or a 10 dollar gift card. Your choice.

You could always do something like a nice card with a gift card inside. That way they get what they want and you still took the time to pick out their card.

Try $10 to Target or Starbucks. You can get a CD from Target or two venti frappuccinos from Starbucks with $10 :)

Gift is good if chosen carefully. Cash is fine if you don't have time. Can you get good things with a tenner?

Gift voucher, because you don't want them to feel like a charity case when you give them cash.
