I am a physician and I strongly suggest that you must place faith in your physician. We weigh the disadvantage against the advantage. All medications and even foods can have side-effects but we consider the good versus the bad. In evaluating any medication, the government considers both the effectiveness of a drug against the possible harm. Nothing is ever 100%. Many drugs such as antibiotics can cause death but when used with care, they save lives. We know that Chloramphenicol can cause aplastic anemia but when used with prudence, can save lives from typhoid. There is a great deal of knowledge and experimentation in each drug. However, you are wise to beware of possible side-effects and report them to your doctor if you have the slightest doubt....don't imagine them....but don't hesitate to talk to the doctor.

They are legally required to list all side effects that somebody in their trial studies had while taking the drug. They might of only happened to one person in the study, but still have to list it. There are not many serious ones and your doctor thinks it is worth it. More than likely you won't have any.
