love both,,,,, best cheese fondue ever had was in portland oregon at a restaurant called the rheinlander,,, the best
c Processed swiss american cheese
2 c Water
1 c Sauterne (chablis) wine
1 ts Garlic powder
1 tb Butter
1/4 ts Accent (msg)
1 ds White pepper
1 ds Nutmeg
1/2 Loaf rye bread
1/2 Loaf french bread
Grate or chop cheese. Bring water, wine, butter and seasoning to a boil. Then add cheese and set into double boiler. (Use stainless steel or ceramic pot.) Stir thoroughly with wooden spoon until cheese melts into a smooth heavy sauce. (If fondue seems too thick, add more wine. If too thin, add more cheese.) Dice bread into 2-inch squares and brown lightly in oven. Keep fondue warm while serving, else a skin will form on the top.

Had great fondue in Quebec, Canada. Main course was cheese fondue with the traditional bread chunks. Dessert was chocolate fondue with assorted fruit for dipping. SOOOO GOOOD, I'M SALIVATING JUST THINKING ABOUT IT.

The authentic french recipes are Fondue Bourguignon and Fondue Savoyarde, though there exists plenty of varients actually.
Bourguignonne is a meat based fondue and Savoyarde is a cheese based fondue.
Personnaly i prefer savoyarde!

Yes in Switzerland they have both but the cheese (in any style/depends on the cheese mixture) one is much more popular. Unfortunately it smells quite bad for newcomer's but it's delicious. But it should only be eaten when it's real cold outside and your body needs the extra calories since it's a bit heavy to digest. In Switzerland we drink a strong Kirsch (white, distilled cherry-brandy) afterwards.

yes i do like it, all 3 varieties, there is the chocolate (great to dip fruit, pound cake and shortbread into) there is the cheese (bread chunks and pretzels and crackers for dipping) then there is the one where you heat oil and dip different types of meat and provide assorted dipping sauces, all 3 are great!
