I'm 23.. so that leaves about 50-70 years left to invent this.

I don't think it would be feasible in this lifetime. Something like a flying car would require some sort of alternative fuel...gasoline (petrol) wouldn't be good enough to power them for long periods of time.

There are so many problems inherent with a "flying car".j

Even if the technology would be available, (it probably is) the biggest obstacle would be how to navigate the thing safely enough so the pilots of these vehicles can land and take off safely.

Even with all the safety advances we have in automobiles today, we still manage to keep on killing ourselves usually violently. Think of the disastrous results if we were able to be in the air and traveling much faster. A lot more damage probably would result.

There is technology to prevent in air collisions with radar and GPS today.

When you consider that all the flying vehicles could be assigned a specific altitude when they first take off, much of the danger of crashing is eliminated. We are limited here on the ground to share a narrow roadway with all the other vehicles. In the air, we will have the luxury of going in any direction, plus,we also will be at a different altitude than your neighbor, or anyone else, for that matter. The problem is the take off and the landings.

So, considering the more available space we would have, it really does seem a viable option. But, I guess they don't think we are ready for it yet.

There is an article I read in Popular Mechanics or Popular Science 7 or 8 years ago, where they have designed a flying car, if you want to call it that, that uses fans for lift and for the main drive system. It is computer operated and was totally flight program able. It could take off and land in your driveway, or within 40 to 50 feet. I think I remember reading that you would have to have a pilots license to fly it. So, in answer to your question, Yes!

I have wished for this since the 60's but I realize that people are just to selfish and stupid to have flying cars. Christ they can't drive regular cars without being stupid , rude, and inattentive. I have been driving since 1972 (and NEVER had an accident) and things just get worse on the road. I mean, how dumb do you have to be to not be able to drive and use a cellphone without being distracted by the conversation. or by your cup of coffee. ( hell in the 70 I could drive and roll a joint without swerving out of my lane on the freeway among other things, now people can't even talk without slowing down. And you want this in flying cars? Well yes I do to but they would have to give one hell of a test before giving people the license.

We will never have flying cars. Not because it is so hard to make a flying machine, but because of safety and traffic control problems.

When I was a kid in every magazine I read were notes saying they would be standard for the year 2000. I was expecting them during all my life.
