Gautama the Buddha said:'I am not the first Buddha to come upon the earth;nor shall I be the last.In due time,another Buddha will arise in this world,One,endowed with wisdom,in conduct auspicious,knowing the universe,an incomparable leader of men ,a master of devas and men.
'How shall we know him?',asked Ananda.
The Buddha replied:'He will be known as MAITREYA which means kindness.'

Or Maitreya, the next Buddha. It is stated that he will appear after people on earth finally reached peace. So that means he can't appear now because there's still war. Anyone claiming himself to be Maitreya is false.
