If he is out where you can see him cover him up and wait till spring. Buy your dog a cool bouncing christmas gift to hold him over till hedgie wakes up.

Leave the poor thing alone!!!!!
Its hibernating so don't disturb it. Even if it isn't hibernating, you should still leave it alone because it'll be scared and its also dangerous for your dog because hedgehogs have extremely sharp and pointy spines(or spikes)and trust me you don't want your dog going anywhere near a hedgehog.
And what do you mean your dog wants to play with it? It'll either kill it, hurt it or get hurt itself.

If you disturb an animal that's hibernating you will make it very sick and could cause the animal's death. Animals hibernate for a reason.

Get your dog another toy preferably a dog ball.

Leave the poor hedgehog to sleep,or you can expect your dog to end up covered in fleas!!!! Hedgehogs, whilst being adorable, are riddled with them!

I find a quick poke with a sharp stick does the trick. Or you could put on some thick gardening gloves, pick the little critter up and drop kick it, rugby style, into the neighbours garden to give the dog some exercise chasing it as they don't run that fast!
Mmmwwwwaaaaahhhhhh

Waking the animal forcibly from hibernation may kill it. So if you don't want to be reported to the RSPCA, for get it.

It's probably not sleeping, rather playing dead to keep from being tortured by your dog.

poke it with a big stick or give your dog some strong sleeping tablets so they both wake up together in the spring all ready to frolic with each other
