All of our sins - both past and future.
Becoming a CHristian doesn't mean that you won't sin again, it does mean that we are turning from a sin-filled life seperated from God. :)

He died for all of our sins. We are not going to be without sins no matter how hard we try. Sin needed to be punished, God came here in a human form to show us how to have a personal relationship with God. To free us from religions.
He wants us all, but He gave us a choice. He has given us a change to just accept it, and gave us the freedom of guilt. Now we only have to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
And once we give our heart to Him, we want to do good. But we will never get saved by our deeds. Only by His grace and mercy. All sins are covered, the ones we have done, the ones we do and the ones we will do. He did not die only for Christian"s sins. He died for all people's sins. We just need to let Him know that we accept His gift.

Christians believe that when Jesus was crucified (assuming Jesus actually existed and was crucified), he fufilled the first part of a prophecy by opening up a direct link between man and God. With his death, mankind won the ability to be forgiven of their sins without making sacrifices to God, as was the custom at the time.
They also believe that all people are born sinners as a result of "original sin", and thusly all are required to repent and be born again in order to establish that link which will save them.
Personally, I prefer the imaginary friend I had when I was young - he didn't need a grotesque murder and nonsensical myth which spurs violent conflict everywhere it's found - and we had an awesome time.

This is an easy question. One that you'd have to read the Bible to understand but a little history wouldn't hurt either.
In the days of Christ people made animal sacrifices to God. They would "transfer" their sins to the animal. The animal would then be killed in their place and offered up to God.
Read the story of Abraham in the OT, and how God asks him to sacrifice HIS only son instead of a ram. It still gives me chills.
ANY how, Jesus was God's ultimate sacrifice. When Jesus died he willingly took on ALL our sins for all time. when He died they were washed away in his blood.
Here's where the faith part comes in....You have to accept this as the truth. When you do and you ask Jesus into your heart you believe that HE has taken on the burden of YOUR sins as well. If you do not believe that then your sins are on your own head and YOU will suffer for them. which is a senseless thing to do because HE has given you the way to eternal bliss with out having to suffer. HE has suffered for you already.
Why would HE do that for YOU??? Because he LOVES you! GOD so loved the world he gave HIS only begotten son and whoso ever believes in HIM will not perish but will live forever.

Basically, the reason Jesus had to die for our sins was so that we could be forgiven and go to be with the Lord. Jesus is God in flesh (John 1:1,14; Col. 2:9) and only God can satisfy the Law requirements of a perfect life and perfect sacrifice that cleanses us of our sins.
All people have sinned against God. But, God is infinitely holy and righteous. He must punish the sinner, the Law breaker. If He didn't, then His law is not law for there is no law that is a law without a punishment. The punishment for breaking the Law is death, separation from God. Therefore, we sinners need a way to escape the righteous judgment of God. Since we are stained by sin and cannot keep the Law of God, then the only one who could do what we cannot is God Himself. That is why Jesus is God in flesh. He is both divine and human. He was made under the Law (Gal. 4:5-6) and He fulfilled it perfectly. Therefore, His sacrifice to God the Father on our behalf is of infinite value and is sufficient to cleanse all people from their sins and undo the offense to God.
The following outline is an attempt to break this down, step by step, using scripture and logic. I hope that it helps you understand why God is our savior and not some created thing. Also, I hope that it helps you understand that you must trust in Christ alone for the forgiveness of your sins; that you can do nothing on your own to merit salvation from God.

First of all he died for our sin. Sin is not plural because with God all sin is measured the same. There is no little sin versus big sin, and what that means is just what the bible says he died for our sin. Any sin you commit is covered by the blood of Jesus. But do not be deceived when you commit sin there is a consequence for it.

Jesus died for all our sins," "Was buried," and "was raised on the third day" are the cornerstone truths of being a Christian. Jesus died in order to save us. Then He returned to life to prove that He was sinless and that He was God.
When scripture says that Jesus died, it means that His physical body died but not His spirit. Three days after His physical death, Jesus' body returned to life. His spirit never stopped existing.
When Jesus died, He died for a reason. His death was not an accident. He came to this earth in order to forgive our sins. He had to die in order to do this. He came because Adam and Eve had disobeyed God.
Sin is disobeying God. God had warned our parents - Adam and Eve - that disobeying Him would bring death. They would die both physically and spiritually. Spiritual death is eternal separation from God - not destruction of the spirit. We understand physical death. When Adam and Eve sinned they caused their children to become sinners. They died both physically and spiritually.

Jesus died to destroy the evil dominion of Satan the devil over mankind and the earth, which was the unfortunate result of Adam's original sin.
One who is dominated and enslaved by another is not free to repent, or free to do anything at all.
Jesus came, and gave his life to destroy Satan's evil dominion and to obtain freedom for mankind.
Once free, man could choose to apologize to God for his sins, whatever they might be, and receive forgiveness.
The same remains true today, through Jesus Christ, our redeemer, and his church.

Well it's not just christians that Jesus died for, it's all of us. Jesus died for all of man kind. Jesus knew that man would incounter a world full of sin. When Jesus was on the cross, he could have saved himself, but he didn't because the love that Jesus has for all man kind. Jesus sacrificed his life to save ours. And til this very day people still don't believe in him. For all the things that Jesus done for us, people still don't see the truth, because Satan has corrupted man's faith and beliefs. We are all siners to this very day, but each day we should as Jesus to forgive us of our sins. Jesus has done so much for us past, present, and future. Jesus did something that no man would do. Jesus died for us, but the greatest factor of that is Jesus only wants so little in return. Our love for Jesus, our faith in Jesus, our beliefs in Jesus, and our hearts to Jesus. Just remember John 3:16 FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD, THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, THAT WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH, BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE. Is it so much to ask to believe in Jesus and to have faith in him? And people wonder why this world is so bad. Thats why! People lost, misplaced, lost faith, or don't believe in him. When Jesus returns to gather his people, there will be a lot of people left behind, because of their misfortune with Jesus. Then it will be too late for them to change. People rather wait til the last minute to try to get things right, but then it's too late. For example: DO you remember 9/11? It had to take something drastic to happen and then they tried to make a change and get right with Jesus. See thats too late. What if Jesus came then and lots of people weren't ready, they would be left behind. As it is stated in the Bible live this day like it's your last because tomorrow is never promised to us. I incourage people, there is only a one way ticket to eternal life and thats through Jesus!
