A few weeks ago we installed IE7 on our computer with an ethernet connection, and a few days later the internet stopped working for that computer.
Later we installed IE7 on the computer with a USB connection (the internet was working fine on that), and after a few minutes the internet stopped working on that completely as well.
The router is working perfectly, both computers are connected to broadband, but nothing using the internet works. BT told us that IE7 could corrupt the drivers and we were told to uninstall IE7 and reinstall the drivers, but so far the problem remains, and we have not been able to use broadband to access the internet for a week now (I'm using a dial up connection here).
Has anyone else experienced this problem, and if so, how is it possible to fix it?

Thank you for your suggestions, but that does not really answer my question. Although it does seem that IE7 caused the problem, removing it doesn't fix the problem and at the moment no programs that use the internet are working with broadband. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Yeah I work at GeekSquad we get calls all day long about the problems associated w/ IE7.
I always suggest Firefox, really just the same company as IE different name, still created by same co. Free download, will take a long time to download via dial up

You only need to do a search on here to see how many people are having problems with IE7. The best thing to do is download Mozilla Firefox available from http://www.mozilla.com/ Its faster, more user friendly, easily customisable to suit your needs and no problems.

Have you tried using IE to access the internet rather that the BT Yahoo browser? click on the IE icon on your desktop, it should connect to the internet.
If this works, ditch the BT Yahoo browser, it is the biggest piece of junk ever conceved, and use IE to access the internet and e mail. Or even better download and use firefox; IE7 is just a poor copy of firefox.

The Answer is NO and in relation to other answers suggesting Firefox you should be aware that yesterday [wednesday] it was announced that Firefox has just fixed 8 critical security faults with Firefox 2 which is it's most recenr browser.IE7 is more succeptible to attacks because more people use it.

Try a search. A LOT of people have had this kind of problem. I'd ditch IE as soon as possible and get Firefox instead. Safer, faster and more reliable.

Just came across same problem when "upgrading" to IE7. I have found that replacing the "psapi.dll [18KB 09/01/2002]" file in the folder C:\Program Files\BT Yahoo! Help\Smartbridge with the one to be found in C:\WINDOWS\system32 (e.g. psapi.dll [23KB 04/08/2004] on my system) seems to fix the problem. Hope this helps.
