Aeronautical engineers design aircraft, though they may also work in other capacities for the government in either space operations or military. There aren't a large number of aircraft manufacturers throughout the world, Boeing and Airbus are the big commercial companies, then there's also Lockheed, Raytheon and a few other as military contractors.
I would suggest looking into the job market to determine if the field is in need of people, or if it is currently saturated. You don't want to spend all that time in college training for a career, only to find that you're unable to work due to a saturated market.
