Because he was a great leader. He had his troops' respect. He managed this because he wore the same clothes as them, ate with them, and fought alongside them. He showed that he wasn't asking them to do something he wouldn't do himself and so they respected him and fought for him.

Many of today's leaders from heads of nations to even managers at a mcdonalds could learn a thing or two from him.

Alexander as a child was tutored by Aristotle one of the greatest thinkers and philosophers at the time. Alexander wasn't only the king but a brilliant military strategist. He practically conquered the entire known world at the time and he was only in his twenties. He was skilled soldier and fought along side his army. He allowed the people he conquered to practise their own religions. He believed that if the world was controlled by one king, it would prevent wars. He was right under his reign there were no wars. Its also believed he influenced many religions like Christianity, Judaism and Islam. Because of his success, he believed it was his divine right to rule with compassion and that he was the god king on earth. "when Alexander looked upon his kingdom, he wept because there was no more worlds to conquer"

If his father had not been murdered, he (Philippos) would have done the same at mature age.
