Physical attraction or intellectual compatibility? What matters more?

Is being physically compatible with someone reason enough to stay in a relationship? Or would you move on... and take the risk of NEVER finding the perfect physical experience with anyone else again?

Let's be realistic here. We're human beings, and we're also intellectual beings, so both are important.

And there's no such thing as the perfect physical experience. Perfection exists only in the mind.

I'd be lying if I said that I didn't see any relationship based on looks last. However, I think in most cases (and I mean 99%), intellectual compatibility wins. You can only admire someone's physical attractiveness for so long before you get tired of it or find someone else prettier. Intellectual compatibility makes for one's uniqueness, adds depth to conversations, and more. But I think there's more than the intellectual aspect of relationships that make them last. I think emotional connectedness is the key to the relationship. How the partners feel together and how they make each other feel is the most important part of the relationship.

My last boyfriend was the perfect mate for me physically...but, way off the mark intellectually. Or, should I say....personality wise. He was very selfish.

I have found that it is more important to me, to be with someone who is on the same page that I am intellectually. Someone who shares my values, etc.

I too am trying to decide if it is possible to ever find both types of fulfillment in one person. So far, I haven't had much luck. However, I still hold hope that he exists.

Trust me...don't put all your eggs in the physical compatability basket. People don't tend to stay hot forever.

I don't think its that simple, because those are'nt even the most important things. A matching soul is more important than and attraction or intellectual krap your talking about. Also, if you think physical attraction is even close to the other, you have a lot to learn, because vanity is a lie. The outside is BS, means nothing. Don't care what you think, thats the truth. People exteriors mean nothing, all show.

u r confused how long will your plan last ????? you have to be mentally on the same wave lengh,,, the physical attraction wears off fast and you will be empty looking for more ,,,,you can have 1/2 of both or all of both keep looking but theres always flaws as far as the perfect physical experience communication can solve that tell eachother wants needs and desires

intellectual compatibility - i dated pretty, handsome and athletic guys and they bored me after a while, and i hated the aspect of having some women shamelessly throw themselves at them. my current boyfriend, inspires me. talks to me right into midnight and is great in bed either way coz there is communication and we get to know what the other likes, that he's become totally attractive to me. so i suppose in my love stricken eyes its become both, and thus becomes a bonus... beauty fades, but the mind grows beautiful.

not enough for me to stay in a relationship. One can have great sex anywhere, it is all in ones mind, you can teach a old dog new tricks. (it is possible). So definitely for me intellectual compatibility is more important. God bless****

Both have their importance to in society, becoz somewhere compatibility wins & somewhere beauty. For example in beuty contests compability & beauty both r equally important.
