my 12mth old great dane has red blister type spots on his feet & neck (that have sort of crusted over)& his fur is thinnning in the neck area...he has also got a few bald red circle patches on his front legs...i think whatever it is is also causing a bad odour.. i have taken him to the vets...they treated him for ringworm which cost over £90 (shampoo..tablets & drops) this hasnt had any impact whatsoever on him...i am reluctant to take him back as i really cant afford to keep paying out this sort of money for treatment that doesnt work...(so close to christmas with 5 children) on a low income...ive heard there is a pdsa an hours bus ride away...i am having difficulty finding someone to help me get him there...my brother can help but it will be in the new year...so i thought it might be worth seeing if there is anyone on here that may some idea of what it may be???? my aunt has told me to spray him with teatree oil but i havent done this as i dont want to make it worse.

I am not a vet but when my boxer cross staff had the same trouble it turned out after loads of vet bills to be a diet problem.
Mine was having too many treats and human food we put him on a dog food only diet and gently massaged the affected ares with johnsons baby oil only bathed him now and then instead of twice per week and kept him out of the river which he loves . dont know which it was but it worked he's all better now
Ps Pet insrance is definely worth it

Sorry it's probably not what you want to hear but having a pet equals paying out for costly vets bills. You need to get your dog back to the vet and get him treated. Failing that, get him on the bus and take him to the PDSA. I don't think you should self-treat a condition that's not been properly diagnosed.

I looked up a few things and I found this website

I would clean the sores and apply tea tree oil to them until I could get him back to the vet. Our Labrador had pustules last year we found it to be a food allergy. There are many different causes just treat what you can and get him to a vet as soon as you can.
