Instead of repairing the file, try importing the data. If you have Excel 2003, you can import data from another workbook without actually opening the workbook. I have done this before when a particular sheet got corrupted.

In my case, only one sheet was corrupted. I was fortunate and was able to import the other three. Also bear in mind that much of your formatting will be lost when importing data. But that's much better than retyping it!

Click Data, Import External Data, then follow the on screen choices. You can do this!

I assume you have XP. If so, then click Start, drag pointer to Help and Support and click. Under Pick a Task, click on Undo Changes to Your Computer with System Restore. Then restore your computer to a time when the file was not corrupted.

Other than that you will have to do a surgery. Delete the bad file and put in the clean file. This assumes you know exactly which file is corrupted. The clean file would have to come off of the original cd or from a friend's computer with the same Excel.

scan it with antivirus. right-click on the file, and scan it with whatever virus software you have.
