I find it kind of silly since we're the people who DON'T believe in invisible beings that can't be proven, but I often find that people see atheists as evil or just doing to be rebels. They act like we aren't as credible or respectable.

Depends where you are in the world. Here in th UK Atheism is the majority culture. It's Christians who are seen as a bit "odd". Strange as Britain is not secular like the usa, but it's estimated that that only about 20% (maybe less) of the population here in Britain goes to church.

So no, as an atheist (well agnostic really) I have never been discriminated against. And of the Christians I know (and I don't know many) some of them HAVE been discriminated against, or at least felt as if they had.

Many people become atheists after seeing the hypocritical actions of so-called "Christians". If I recall correctly Jesus never threw a fit if an individual decided not to believe what he was teaching. However, most "Christians" will be quick to condemn such a person to hell. 99% of people who claim to be Christian are simply false. Just as Jesus himself said "Not everyone saying to me Lord, Lord will enter into the kingdom of the heavens". Jesus also said that very few individuals would find the road to life. (Matthew 7:13-23) And again, the Bible says that Satan is misleading the entire inhabited earth (Revelation 12:9).

Christendom is one of the world's worst religions. They claim to worship God but they have nothing to do with God's moral standards.

Atheism is a personal choice and its a personal belief and opinion. People should accept that belief and respect the opinions of atheists just as they should for religious people. The reason atheists and looked down upon I think is because they can be just as preachy and outspoken as any religious people trying to convert people who do believe in religion to the atheist way of thinking.

Well let's see. Do people with more education get more respect than those with less education? Atheists are always claiming that they generally have more education than those that are not atheists. Do smart people get more respect? Atheist claim to be smarter than most other people. Have I answered your question? I have one for you. Does a person with an intelligence level below the bell, who believes in God, deserve respect?

Try running for office as an avowed atheist. Good luck with that. You won't be seen as moral/ethical/trustworthy.
