here is a website on the age of consent for different ares of where you live. basically it means how old u have to be to say yes to to sex. i did not see any younger that sixteen, but in some areas it was 18. if you boyfriend had sex with you before that age, he could go to jail. but if you just want to date.. that's OK. here in the states, once your 18, sex with anyone 17 and under is a crime. give yourself some time.. your Young.

of course it is legal, it is not legal to have sex before 18 though
