Treatment is with antibiotics but taking antibiotics does not prevent typhoid fever There is still 1-2% mortality (risk of death).

Antibiotics for at least 10 days, may be 14 days. Do not stop the antibiotic till 5 days after fever subsides. Ist line-- Chloramphenicol, amoxicillin, co -amoxiclav, cotrimoxazole.
2nd line--- cefixime, cefuroxime.
3rd line-- ceftriaxone, cefotaxime, ciprofloxin, ofloxacin.
There is no need of dietary restriction. Encourage the child to eat whatever he wants.

You may experiment with yourself, but never with kids!!
