Im shattered...after going out for a year me and my girlfriend have broken up (mutual thing) but the problem is its silly cos we both still really have strong feelings for each other. The timing just not right for us because her parents are going through a nasty divorce and shes an emotional wreck at the moment. We both agreed that we would be better off and happier to leave the relationship now before things got really bad between us and so she wouldnt put me through all her pain. I wanted to be there for her through this but she decided it was best for me not too. But she is the girl i want to end up with and i just hope that one day we can get back together and give it another shot. Yet im worried that as time goes by we will most likely move on and find other people. We broke up on really good terms and have agreed to stay close friends...i just really hope that by doing that it leaves the door open for us to be together again. Is this likely or am i just giving myself false hope?

For a start, you're both acting like cowards.

She's going through a tough time and you have said she is an 'emotional wreck'. You should not have ended the relationship. Cooled it down a little maybe, but she needs you and your support.

You need to be there for her and you need to tell her how you feel. That you still want to be in a relationship, but realise she needs space cause of all that is happening.

If you're not there for her now when she really needs someone then what hope is there for the future? Do you think she could be with someone who isnt there for her when she needs them? I know you said it a mutual thing to break up, but she's only doing it so you dont go through the pain she's going through. If you're serious about being with her forever, then you need to go through the pain and support her as best you can.
