As far as I'm aware you need an HD television and an HD DVD player to get the full benefit of High Definition. The HD DVD players use different discs to a standard dvd player, they hold a lot more information. Most tv isn't transmitted in HD either (some of SKY is but the BBC and other channels don't transmit in HD yet) so you're unlikely to get the full benefit of HD unless you connect your HD tv to the internet and watch some HD programs there.

Ah those words mean fairly some issues. finished HD potential finished 1080p decision. the television's close by decision is 1920x1080. HD waiting basically potential the television has no geared up in digital tuner. So the only thank you to get HD onto that television is to apply some style of set actual container. If the Panasonic is a 1080p set and the LG is a 1080p set, i might palms down take the Panasonic on image high quality. except you certainly ought to have the geared up in digital tuner of the LG, then i might take that set through fact I had to. Oh yet television length performs an substantial place too. In contraptions of 37" or smaller, 720p is all you elect. maximum client and guru HDTV classes permit you to understand that. you will no longer see the advantages of 1080p in those sizes. 1080p won't harm, you in basic terms won't get fairly some return on the investment (undesirable bang for the dollar). In forty" - forty six" its a splash a gray section. some people want 1080p at that factor (myself lined). yet many proceed to apply 720p in those sizes and sense they are getting a super HD viewing adventure. Its once you hit 50" and up which you relatively must be at 1080p.

Not unless your DVD recorder is an HD recorder (not sure they exist yet for standard home use). You would also need HD coming into the recorder, which the TV will not provide. Basically you need Sky HD or Telewest TVDrive HD, both of which use hard disks to record. Finally, your DVD player will need to be connected by an HDMI connection to play out in HD, if it is indeed a HD player (which it possibly isn't!).

Not if you have a standard DVD recorder...you would need a new type such as HD-DVD or Blu-ray recorder to get an HD quality picture recorded.

Both of these new formats are expensive & incompatible ( just like VHS & Betamax were)...so I would wait to see if one becomes the ‘standard’ of the future.

ONLY if it's a BLU-RAY or HD-DVD recorder WITH an ATSC HD tuner built in....

and Recording a HD STATION with a HD 1080i Channel (not a 480i Sub-Channel).....

AND a HD TV SHOW!!

EVERYTHING has got to be HD.....if not, then you end up with an SD recording.

it's all depends on whether ur DVD allows you to record in HD, you need both to work in HD condition to record in HD. If you don't mind, please let me know your model so that i can find it out for you, coz i'm working in Panasonic. Cheers...

It should do. We've got one but they can be a bit temperamental. If the dvd doesn't work properly, unplug the aeriel for 10 minutes then reconnect it.
