for example if a female dog breeds with 4 dogs can each dog become a father to the pups in the same litter?

Most strays we find pregnant and large litters It is very obvious there are different daddys. Its always funny when we can show them mom they want to see the dad and the comment is the dad got away. No childsupport or anything just ran off.

YES! Female dogs ovulate over a period of several days. One dog can "cover" a female and fertilize the eggs present. Another dog can "cover" on the next day or two days later and fertilize the eggs present at that time. They don't fertilize the same egg. Once the egg is fertilized, it's fertilized by that dog.

So absolutely there can be more than one father to a litter.

Yes, it is possible, but since the window for fertilization is small, it's rare that there would be more than 2 fathers (Unless she got a lot of action in a short time period!). The pups can only have 1 father each, being the result of the eggs fertalized during that mating session.
