Sex is the dessert. So no is the answer. Friendship in a relationship is very important before sex. To me sex is something for closure and/or enjoyment.
If my husband couldn't have sex for whatever known reason, I will still be with him! So friendship is #1 as well as trust.

A real relationship is based on true love, companionship and respect for each other. Sex is an essential part of it and not the whole or most of it. A relationship based only on sex doesnt last long as either partner may get tired soon and may go for greener pastures elsewhere.

A combination of both is needed for a relationship to prevail. BUT it depends on the two ppl together to determine how much of each is needed. Some couples have relationships that are based ALOT on sex and have little emphasis on the other finer things although it is still there to some degree. Other ppl have relationships that are built mostly around the finer things and sex has little to do with it. Others have relationships with a 50/50 mixture of both. Its just finding someone who meets all your needs and IMO that is VERY difficult to do.

basically have a communication with him and permit him understand precisely the way you sense. A relationship should not be based basically on intercourse. You sorta contradicted your self too. You reported he's been there for you and helped you thru fairly some issues...it quite is not being based completely on intercourse.

well for some people the relationships work only on sexual basis, but for most of those need more than that. You need to have the understanding, love and most important respect for each other as individuals to have a good relationship.

It depends on the relationship... I've had just sex relationships and they served just the one-dimensional purpose
It all about the goals you have and willingness to commit
I prefer multi-dimensional though... sort of like what my hair color should be;)

I think that they need to be able to understand each other. Sex is just for the spare time and the fun time.
