Details of any sites where I could listen to the accent, in English rather than The Gaelic would be really helpful. Thanks to all for their answers in advance.

I Tried Searching it, but couldn't find anything sorry. Why do you need to find out how they speak? You could try contacting their local tourist board & seeing how the person who answers speaks. Their Number is 01851 703088. I hope this Helps.

Well BBC Scotland have a reporter with a cracking accent of the type you require. I think his name is John Morrison.

He may not be a Lewis man but he sounds like he was educated in Lewis, at least. And he's definitely "hebridean". You should be able to track down some of his broadcasts on the BBC website.

That is a VERY hard accent you have chosen to learn, by the way. Without a knowledge of gaelic, I don't know if you will be able to pull it off , frankly.

YEP morrison's the guy, I think he is on BBC TV scotland quite often too. That is quite a task you have set yourself there, by the way.

Have a look on this accent archive site - it might be in there or on a linked site. It's a bit annoying as the text that they use misses out a fair few vowels and dipthongs (e.g. the 'ou' in 'about' that identifies a Canadian in an instant). But it's pretty interesting.
