Most up-to-date video editing programs have features that let you capture still images from video. I just bought an Adobe package that includes PhotoShop Elements 5.0 and Premiere Elements 3.0 to use with my Sony DCR-HC36 Handycam. The software promises to allow me to capture a frame from my video (Premiere) and edit it like a still image (PhotoShop). One of the suggested uses for these capabilities is plucking a frame from video to use for my DVD cover art.

Wish me luck!
