There is no correlation between ' Written English' & 'Spoken English'. You can be very good at written english. But for spoken english, grammar is not important but you need to practice speaking on any topics with your friends, collegues, family members, with everybody without having any type of fear.

English is a hard language to learn, but do not be afraid. Some of the biggest mistakes made by new learners are made because they are trying to be polite. To speak English, you must really not get to bogged down in this. Projection of sounds such as the p sound is very hard. you have to force a lot of air out. Practice with a lit candle for P's & H's. Your tongue has to be outside of your mouth for a proper sounding L when you are learning, Don't worry about looks.
Getting the proper sounds for the letters and remembering that English has a lot of weird words that do not follow rules will help you. Practice in front of a mirror, watch peoples mouths when they talk.
Good luck!
Have a wonderful Holiday season!

Give the guy a break, he said he knows it but never said he was fluent.
This is pretty common, I can read and write in a few different languages but can't speak them, just learned from books and the internet. The big thing is learning how to actually pronouce the words, perhaps taking an english course? You can also hit multiple websites where you can get audio teaching at your own pace.

I know the feeling; I'm like that in German.
For those who disagreed with you: Ruku didn't claim to have a MASTERY of English grammar, just some "knowledge" of it, which clearly is the case.
If you're (Ruku) looking for advice, try watching tv or DVDs in English (perhaps subtitled in your language), and even talk back to the tv.

Well ruku, there are lots of people who are very fluent in reading or writing in a particular language, but are totally nil when it comes to speaking in that same language. So dont get depressed. Its all normal & fine.
The dictionary is one book which you can always keep referring so as to increase your vocabulary, and to know the correct pronunciations & phonetics.
Another effective way to improve your spoken english is to watch english news, and grasp commonly used words, and then try to use those same words and styles in your conversations with friends.
So ruku, good luck.

First thing you need to do is do not get depressed. We are not made perfect.
We need to get perfect.
Even i had faced this problem once. But i am now speaking fluent english.
I think first you need to gain confidence in yourself. Then read a lots of novels, participate in acting, see good english movies and speak english all the time even if it is not correct.
Slowly and gradually, your speech will improve.
Tell your friends to help you in speaking correct english rather than to make fun of you.
I give my best wishes. Good luck

do not difficulty.. that's not a huge deal.. you need to make a habit of studying books and employ dictionary once you're studying a e book to pronounce a note acceptable.. this makes you a good spoken english speaker..

there are many more friends like me to share your feelings so

Hi! :)
It is easy enough to understand the fundamental structure of english grammar, however if you wish to speak english, you would need to learn english phonetics for speech !
