I am visiting Washuington for 10 days in Jan 07 and my passport expires in Aug 07........ I just want to check that I'm not going to get there and get send home.

All thoughts welcome

You will have no problem, 8 months left on it and only here for 10 days, so all good, just don't stay 8 months :)

Technically you can use it to come in right up until the expiration date, could even stay after it expires, they aren't going to do anything as your leaving, since, well, your leaving. However, I am pretty sure that the UK isn't going to let you back in without a valid non-expired passport, don't think the airline will even let you on, so, lengthy trip and explination to the local consulate in washington if you somehow loose track of time :)

You'll be OK pretty much anywhere, not just the US, as long as you have at least 6 months left on your passport at the time of your return home.

You should be OK. the passport expiry should be more than 6 months.
