I pronounce it like goghi but it doesn't look right.

g* is a soft g

not sure about polish , but i got some yugoslav friends that are granddads , one is deda for grandfather , another is studdy or stutty for old man
did some googling:
Grandfather (EN) = Dziadek (PL)
