You mean "alter"? The SPCA is a non-profit organization that helps animals in need. They make sure all animals put up for adoption are spayed or neutered first. Why would they alter your pet cat for free? I would say no to this one. Try contacting a low cost pet clinic in your town. If you have a male cat it's a little cheaper than a female. $10 vs $20. Good luck.

I just got my cat desexed at the RSPCA and it cost me $150 even with a pensioners discount. And if you cant afford to get the cat desexed and it has kittens it also costs you money to hand them over to the RSPCA as well.

If you're living in Australia, I know from experience that the RSPCA would neuter or spay without charge. All my kittens and mama cat were fixed for free. I just rang them up and they scheduled pick up. But then again, that was years ago, and I don't know what thier policy is now. Best thing to do is call the RSPCA.

If you don't have the money to pay the charity £60 then you definitely can not afford to have a cat. Cats are not cheap to keep, there is cat food and that is quite expensive, vet bills when they get ill, bedding, toys and cat litter. It will cost thousands of pounds through the cat's life. If someone can not pay the charity £60 they definitely can not afford to have a cat. If they don't want to pay the charity then they do not deserve to have a cat. The money you pay is towards vaccinations and micro-chipping of the cat. It is a tiny contribution to these costs which are far far more expensive. If anything, you should give the charity more than the £60 they ask for as they rely totally on donations to help homeless animals.
