Of all the sleep aids I've tried, I like Sonata the best. I use it once or twice a month with no adverse side-effects. It puts me to sleep quickly, keeps me asleep for several hours, and allows me to wake up quickly the next morning. I don't have the "hazy" feeling that I get from using nighttime cold remedies that contain an antihistamine. Antihistamines make me very sleepy, but I hate the next-day after-effects.
However, you should be aware that I normally take Sonata when I wake up at 2 or 3 AM and cannot get back to sleep. I've noticed that if I take it much earlier than that, it doesn't necessarily keep me asleep until morning.
To summarize, I would say that it's great for /putting/ me to sleep, with no next-day after-effects, but does not necessarily keep me asleep for the entire night.

Hi
I've been taking sonata for a couple of weeks now. With one pill I could get to sleep but not necessarily have a good sleep, and sometimes I couldn't stay asleep. The doc suggested I take 2 pills instead and it worked much better. (Unlike Ambien you CAN take 2 of these pills.)

side affects are different in each individual, it all depends on how your body reacts to it...try Tylenol PM if you want to try a sleep aid out...they usually do the trick for me, in the morning sometimes i feel sluggish because of sleep aids...
