Ok - not a fastidious solution, but in my experience, this works:

The next time he goes on the floor, take a bit of clean litter and cover the mess with it, then scoop up the whole business, put it in his box and leave it. Put something over the area where he went, so that he can't use that spot again. When he can determine that his waste is in the box, he will hopefully understand that the box is the place he is supposed to go, and not on the floor.

My cat did that....once.

Next time...
Pick up the kit by the scruff of the neck just like mama. You are the mama now. To a small degree you must become catlike. Its much easier than making the kitten act like a monkey...er human.
Take the poo along in a paper towel. dump the poo in the box then the kitten. make tho kitten smell the poo. (females-- Use gloves. there are organics in the feline system that can cause harmful pregnancy issues.) In the kit's view scoop a hole like it wouldraking the litter over the poo. Then take kitty's paw and repeat the digging motion. When completely covered have the kitten take another whiff. It will notice the reduction of the smell. Now if at any timt the lil pooper thies to get out of the box, either scruff him/her back oruse your fingertips to push him back like a mother cat would steer the youngster. And give a sharp "Box!" each time he tries to escape. If this is a new box for the little guy you may have to...uh.. break it in for him. Just a slight shot of bladder water (burried) will tell him that this is where the family goes. The closer to the human toilet the better. Even if you don't use the box on a regular basis (if you do I cant help you beyond a scratch behind the ears) the scent of waste dumping will program the location as the poo drop. Out of the 8 cats I've had only one resited the training. For one week. Hopefully this will do the trick. After the first week of training I could yell "Box!" and Kitty ran to the bathroom, and got as close to the litter as possible. If it was already occupied. Cats can be taught if you 'speak' cat. They learn from their family, but they have to understand you. Just imagine playing charades with the furball.

Then its not trained........Well! here are the tips..
Place the litter box in a clean, relatively quiet and accessible location. Keep it away from high-traffic areas and be sure your cat has access to it any time she needs it. Be sure to keep the litter box out of reach of children as well as the other animals in the household.

• Show kitty where it is. Place her in the box and let her sniff. Some people have found it useful to rake their fingers through the litter to show their cat what they want her to do.
Keep the litter box clean. Scoop out soiled litter daily, and change the entire box every week, putting in fresh litter. You can wash out the box with a solution of water and vinegar to help reduce the odor, and then add a little baking soda to the litter itself. An inch and a half of fresh litter is usuall plenty.

• Don't place her litter box near her food and water. Cats don't like to eliminate where they eat.

• Clean any accidents immediately. If kitty does have an accident, clean the area right away with a half and half solution of white vinegar and water. This will help to eliminate the odor and hopefully prevent kitty from returning to that spot.

• Never punish your cat for having an accident. Do not strike her or rub her nose in the mess; instead, firmly say "No!", then place her in her litter box and praise her there.

Sometimes people state things that might not be so true!!!! They may not be litter trained , so guess you get the job!! Take the kitten in to the litter box every two hours for few days, try gently holding it's front paws and helping him "scratch" in the litter , when he does and if he goes praise him alot, just like a child!!Use a enzyme spray to remove Oder and try to keep him in one or two area's.

he might be overwhelmed with the new situation. i would keep him in one room only and put the litter tray in there with him along with a bed and a few toys. keep him in their for a few days to a week and then gradually let him out into the rest of the house so hes not so overwhelmed.

take it from someone whos had the experience, its just because they are overwhelmed with new surroundings and situations. Also you need to be calm with him and sit in the room for a couple of hours during the day, just read and he'll come and sit with you and get used to you etc. Also make sure that if you have people over for xmas that you dont scare him by showing all your guests him, that will encourage him to go to the toilet on the floor. just leave him in the room and he'll settle himself.

good luck and happy xmas!!

Once he's gone on the floor once, he will keep going back to the same spot as he can smell it. Clean the areas with biological washing powder or special cleaner from the pet shop and persevere. Don't discipline him, he won't know why he's being told off and it will just stress him out. Also, try feliway, in case it is a stress response to moving home, it'll calm him and make him feel at home.

I have a kitten who did this. Try not to litter train him, when you see him sniffing etc, put him straight outside, that way he'll get use to going outside alot quicker.

try using a different litter perhaps domething finer which doesnt hurt his paws or you could potty train him all over again. put him in the tray every couple of hours and teach him how to dig all over again. kittens often pee and poo around the house when you first get them so you just have to persivere until you train him to new routine

It could be that he doesnt like the place you have put his litter tray. Try it somewhere a bit more "private" as cats are quite fussy creatures
