I am thinking about traveling to New York, and then possibly moving there in years to come. Where is the best place to live--the most central, easily accessible, fun place to live? Suggestions? I don't even know how New York is divided up--it is so huge.

The move expensive place to live is manhattan, so if you want to spend $2000+ on a little studio apartment, then that's your place, if not, i would suggest looking into the other boroughs.

I was raised in the Bronx. There are a few nice places in the Bronx, like Riverdale and Throgs Neck. They are getting expensive but not as expensive as manhattan. Right now I live in Astoria, Queens. Nice neighborhood, very close to manhattan, easy access to the subway but also getting very pricey.

You may want to visit NYC a few times before you decide to move there and vist all the boroughs so you know what you're getting yourself into.

NYC's 5 boroughs are Queens, Bronx, Staten Island, Brooklyn and Manhattan. I would say the most "fun" place to live is Manhattan. Theres lots of things to do, places to go, bars, clubs, museums, shows, etc. You dont need a car in Manhattan. You can get around by bus, subway, or taxi. You will most likely be able to find a job easily in Manhattan. The city never sleeps. It can be expensive however to live there. When you come and visit, check out Manhattan. Im sure youll love it.

yea it's not a good idea to live in manhattan! rent is ridiculous! to give you an idea of rent: my four bedroom brooklyn apt (where 5 of us live) is $2300 a month, my tiny studio in brooklyn was $650. I pay more in rent than my parents pay on their mortgage for their 3 floor, 6 bedroom house in CT!! It's crazy to think about!
I would definitly look at brooklyn or queens. they both have great neighborhoods and aren't as bad as manhattan. you can always get into the city, thats not a big deal with the trains and buses.

your kidding right!!! nyc costs allot to live in...Manhattan studios cost about 2500 for some. queens is the nicest place to live Jackson heights, flushing or woodside are good places to live close to the subways. the Bronx ahhhh no!!! not without a armored car..Brooklyn has very good and very bad places to live .. the prices go the same. Staten island is very nice but its a little out of the way. my recommendation is to live in a nice place and you can travel to manhattan to the things you like to do. i'm a native nyc girl born in manhattan so i know sweety. byeee

fast-paced, impersonal, exciting I would probably not live there but wouldn't mind staying there for an extended time (up to a year) for the experience.
