OHHHHH! I feel so *discrimated* against! (Christians only?)
<>>

How 'bout if I *USED* to be a Christian? Then can I tell you how many denominations I tried and finally aborted?

I was raised a Roman Catholic, but not by choice,I was born into it. As I grew older I attended churches of other denominations and found some beliefs to my liking. I have given serious thought to changing my religious upbringing, but as yet, have not done so.Thus far I am not a practicing Catholic, but in any regard, I believe in God and to my way of thinking, that is all that really matters.

For cause, but not the ones some ex-JWs who want to put themselves on a pedestal, want you to believe, and know you will without question. I still believe they are the right religion, but I kind of like women, a lot.

As for why? You could wait until next May when this program about Jehovah’s Witnesses is shown on PBS, or you can order a copy now. It was done by an independent film company.

Setting aside any Bible issues, they believe in obeying the law, even the inconvenient ones, such as speed limits when late for work.

They believe in paying taxes, even though there are many ways they could avoid them, as many religions do.

They believe in keeping their word, such as to the IRS that they will not promote politics in the church, and they actually mean it.

They teach their youth that waiting until marriage is preferable to using protection, and for the most part, the youths actually believe it. As a result, they have the lowest rates of out-of-wedlock births and STDs. Yes, there is the occasional ones who would rather have their fun now than wait, but there are far more who choose to wait.

They treat their youth with respect, not just "do what you're told!"

Youths are taught side by side with the adults, the Bible as a whole, and not just Bible stories. The very young may not understand what they are being taught, but by the time you reach the age of understanding, they have a good basic knowledge of the scriptures.

The congregations never get so large that the individual gets lost in the crowd. Since everyone is taught the same, it is easy to start a new congregation, with a set of elders.

Everyone knows everyone, whether in their congregation, or in their circuit. When Katrina happened, every Jehovah’s Witnesses living in New Orleans could be found in Texas, with every individual accounted for. How many other religions could say for certain they knew that none of those left behind belong to one of their churches?

They believe their Kingdom Halls should compliment a neighborhood, and not overwhelm it, so they are small and don’t include a lot of expensive decorative features. Each KH can hold up to four congregations.

The greatest difference between JWs and the rest of Christendom can be answered with just one question.

WHAT DAY DO YOU OBSERVE THE MEMORIAL ON?

Everyone else will falter around and perhaps come up with a day in May, but all JWs will say at sunset on Niacin 14, which falls on the first full moon after the vernal equinox, the Memorial of the Last Supper. This is the only day, aside from wedding anniversaries, that Christ said to continue keeping, yet Jehovah's Witnesses are the only Christian organization that does.

Whatever you may say about whether it is right or wrong to observe the man-made holidays created since the first congregations, the fact remains that Christendom does not observe the one day Christ said to keep. What does that say for the leaders of Christendom, that they ignore that one important day of the year, and don't even know what day it falls on?

The question of holidays gets asked a lot, yet the facts of why are clearly evident. Even the Churches of Christendom recognize that the holidays and observances are not in keeping with Bible teachings, yet they fear that doing anything about it will jeopardize their positions and power. Check any religious encyclopedia about the holidays and their history.

So the question is not why don't witnesses celebrate the holidays, but why does Christendom celebrate something not taught in the Bible? Further, why don't they know what day Christ said to observe and why don't you observe it on that day?

Whatever you may think of any of the other beliefs of JWs, you have to ask yourself is the need to observe these holidays more important than observing the day Christ said to keep?

In Acts it says that every day they (apostles) added to their number those who were being saved. The Catholic Church isn't the largest relgion in the world by accident! It is Divine Providence that has made it so. It is the fountain of truth. People who think they can grab a Bible and have the authority to interpret it are following the greatest trick of the devil. Even Satan used scripture.

As a Catholic I have callenged my faith by asking questions and I have been amazed what I discover. If you took a Bible course and discovered what SCRIPTURAL TYPOLOGY is you would be amazed. If you knew what SALVATION HISTORY was in the Bible you would understand. If you recognized DIVINE AUTHORITY you would know that there has to be someone in authority to reveal the "secret" truths God has given. If you research all those phrases you will begin a journey of discovery that will last a life time.

We have a saying in Catholicism: the New Testament is hidden in the Old and the Old is revealed in the New. There are many mysteries contained in the Bible that I have been amazed at discovering for the past 20 years and there is a whole lot more. St. Jerome said: Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ. The whole Bible is about our SALVATION: Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ fulfilled over 300 prophesies in the Old Testament about the Messiah you can discover 50 of them in cd's IT IS WRITTEN.

WHEN YOU HAVE BEGUN TO DISCOVER THESE THINGS YOU WILL KNOW IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE BEEN WRITTEN BY MAN. Jesus (a historical figure along with others in the Bible that are not fictitional characters) by fulfilling just 50 prophesies makes the odds of doing that 10X135 power! An astronomical figure that could not have been achieved by human means.

The thing that might shock you and others is that SATAN used scripture to tempt Jesus. So, too Satan will use scripture to trip us up from following the true faith. This is why there has to be DIVINE AUTHORITY that passes from the Old Testament to APOSTOLIC SUCCESSION in the New Testament. This is why someone cannot Authoritatively pick up a Bible and correctly interpret it nor can there be millions of interpretors to HOLY SCRIPTURE. There can only be one!

I´used to be a Roman Catholic since i was kid, now that i grew up, i started reading Bible(because i was never told that a christian should be guided by Bible), and i found some questions about the truth, nobody in the church could explain to me why didn´t we follow Bible instrutions, so I did not think that would be good idea keep living a christianism without obaying God´s instrutions as it is. Someone explaned me, by the first time, the 10 comandments(I never new that it was in the Bible), and its diferent of the one since child i was touch... I had to choose between the God comandments and Men comandment... I thak God today i´m Seven Day Adventist, now i have a clear mind of being christian...

I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses and this is because it is the only one that tells and teaches truth from the Bible. I was born into the Catholic Religion but in my Teens I found it to be teaching many lies when I looked into the Bible for myself, I too did look around for truth and I did look at other denominations like you but after finding that they all were much of a muchness teaching very much the same things that I found earlier to be lies that are not from the Bible I resorted to Praying to God and I was answered swiftly, to find the truth!

Going to church does not make you a Christian, any further than sitting in a storage makes you a automobile. in case you have faith in Jesus, you're a Christian! come across a church which: a million. Exalts Jesus 2. Seeks to save the lost (evangelises) 3. Is Bible-concentrated (teaches from the Bible, and derives all doctrine from the Bible, somewhat than the words and innovations of sinful adult adult males/traditions) Any church it relatively is dedicated to the Bible ought to do a million. and 2. besides. of those you listed, i might propose a baptist church, in spite of the shown fact that it does not must be. There are some problems with Catholicism, at the same time with "papal infallibility", the worship of Mary, "apostolic succession", something they call "transubstantiation" the place the bread/wine at Communion are thought to quite grow to be the physique/blood of Christ, confession to a clergyman and finally justification via works. That final undertaking is relatively doubtlessly the biggest undertaking with Catholicism, in spite of the reality that it quite is relatively arguable.

I am sort of like a nondenominational Christian mixed with Unitarianism and Seventh Day Adventist. I think the Sabbath should be upheld on Saturday, though you should be able to set your own preferences for how to keep it holy, and I agree with the Unitarians who believe in The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, but don't try to link all of them into one being, or in the least I like how they do not make the Trinity a core doctrine, that they do not say "if you reject the Trinity you are not a Christian"

Ukrainian Catholic born and raised, RC now because of that's the nearest Catholic church to me right now. I would never have chosen the RC church, however, there is much more to it than it appears, as I have discovered. I had to give up beauty for austerity. I had to give up formality for informality. But within this church I have indeed found a treasure beyond price.

I am Roman Catholic as well. I am Catholic because I believe that during the Consecration the bread and wine are actually Jesus' body and blood. Merry Christmas!

Baptist ---- because I believe Baptist are as close to the New Testement church in faith and practice as possible. The Bible is the one and only basis for the church, all believers have equal access to God.

There are five historic Baptist principles that are important in understanding Baptist thought and practice. Each of these principles have implications for how the Baptist church should function in the world today.

1). Jesus Christ is the head of the Church and should receive primary allegiance from the Christian Church.

2). The Holy Scriptures are authoritative in all matters of faith and Christian practice.

3). The Church is a fellowship of persons who have received by faith the new life of the Spirit and given witness to this faith in believer's baptism.

4). All believers have equal access to God through the one mediator, Jesus Christ, and are responsible to offer themselves in grateful service to Christ and their neighbors.

5). God has granted the liberty of conscience to everyone, and the Church therefore should be free from the control of the state.
