If you do it, be sure to check all the restrictions and fine print before you buy. Many times, discount codes are restricted so that only certain people can use them, or they can only be applied to certain fare classes or flight codes that cannot be redeemed on the flight you wish to take. Some can only be used a certain number of times, so if the person selling the code has sold it to lots of other people, it may be worthless when you get around to booking your trip.

I have never personally bought discount codes but I know a couple of people who have, and some of them have not been able to redeem their discounts AND couldn't get the money back from the person who sold them the codes.
