I have a Plenary order of protection against a former boyfriend.
I renew it every two years. My new fiance, and I are discussing this, and would like to present to you for a vote.

Should we renew it, or let it expire?

How should we know? We'd have to know the specifics.

If the guy is still potentially dangerous, then obviously renew it. If you have to renew it until the guy drops dead, then do it. How much time and energy does renewing it involve? Not too much, I would think.

You're attractive and probably a good person, but it sounds like you need to develop a little more common sense. These issues should not be put up to a vote and decided upon by the unknown general public. *eyes rolling*

Good luck.

Is he still a threat? If so, then I would renew it. If he has moved on with his life, then you need to move on with yours. Seriously, if this guy is still bothering you after several years, then you need to look into something more than a protection order. Besides, if he really wanted to harm you, a protection order is not going to stop him. I don't say that to be mean. I think that renewing the order every two years just tells him that he is still in control of your life and your thoughts. Forget him and get over it.

Might as well renew it - better safe than sorry. I think at least until you and your fiancee get married would be good. Does it require much more work than mailing in the renewal request form to the court?

Renew you it just once and see how things go. If your new bf says that he no longer wants it renewed, then don't renew next time, no argument. It will help you forget about a losing episode in your life.

Uh it really all depends. Is the ex so crazy still that you need a restraining order? then it would probally be a good idea to continue with it, because your new fiance can't be with you 24/7. If hes no longer a threat to you then it wouldn't hurt to let it expire.

After writing my response I realize that you are a complete and utter moron. The answer to this question is complete common sense. Are you such an idiot that you need our vote in matters of your safety? I vote that you acquire some common sense.

If he's still a problem renew it. If he's not then don't. They can't protect you physically anyway; it's just a piece of paper. If he kills you the cops are going to lock him up order of protection or not.
