If Christians can mock everything that doesn't agree with their religion, why would they then think it wouldn't backfire on them?

Bender, come into a Wiccan thread sometime and say that again. When you see how badly Wiccans get treated on here, you'll change your tune.

Bahaus, then what do you call entering every single Wiccan or Witchcraft thread posted and going on and on about how its satanic? And that the Wiccans are going to hell? I've even seen worse than that. I've seen people actually make fun of the Wiccan poster. Honestly, think about it.

Sorry but Christians don't get to play the "abused" card. Most of society is still based on what they do. Try being part of one of those minority societies that the Christians treat like dirt and then you can say how badly you get treated.

Simple.
Most (but not all) Christians are filled with hate, bigotry, prejudice and hypocrisy.
Generation upon generation.
Peace.

Because we have all been brainwashed, including the secular among us, that all religions and beliefs are things which should be immune to criticism and debate. This is one mechanism which helps these very nasty memes to thrive. People like Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris are now rasing our consciousness to this.
It really does seem quite bizarre that it is ok for me to criticize and question your political beliefs but not to do the same with religion. As if that, and peoples beliefs, are something special. Nobody would think twice about mocking Hitler’s beliefs. If you were to look at critiques of one political party to another, when Republicans criticize Democrats or vice versa, nobody ever says that’s wrong. Its just normal robust argument. People have just got so used to the idea that religion must be immune to criticism, that even a very mild criticism of religion comes across as angry, intolerant mocking.
I recommend watching some of Richard and Sam’s videos from the Beyond Belief Conference that are currently on YouTube.com

It is the other way around.Don't you see Christians being mocked here night and day and spoken to disrespectfully?
In addition because Christians don't mock others and are not taught to do so. We speak the truth and will debate but we generally do not practice mocking. So we do not appreciate it when others do it to us , but we bear it knowing that that is the price for not following the crowd and crazy mob and approving of what they do and say.So they in turn make fun of us because they generally take correction or disapproval as hate, and so think that they are licensed to hate us and treat us worse than anything they would accept, by cursing us, using immature filthy language and insults , not only towards Christinas but towards our Lord. But the Lord sees.

Actually, we think we get mocked all the time. We're actually a favorite Hollywood punching bag. Know these characters? The fire-and-brimstone preacher who screws the parishioners, the sniping, bitter, repressed church girl, the hypocritical church lady, the racist, bigoted, misogynist church father . . .
I'm not saying we're at a disadvantage and looking for pity, of course. We're still the majority. The mocking goes both ways, but with more Christians in the US than people from other religions, the other religions get picked on the most. It's just math.

Christianity is mocked on TV all the time. Watch the Colbert Report or the Daily Show and you'll see it often. In reality it's less acceptable to mock other religions, say Islam for example, because they'll riot in the streets. The difference between Muslims and Christians is that Muslims believe all of what their holy book says. The Christians believe theirs says what they want it to say.

Religions should be respected either Judaism, Christianity, or Islam. Mocking others religions is not a good favor to yours. Accept other people's beliefs.

Really, it *ISN'T* acceptable to mock other's beliefs. The object of all spirituality is love, so I ask, "Where is the love in that?"
Having said that, I truly believe that the Christians who get so up in arms can truly not see the error of their ways. They lead their lives with blinders on and truly think they are doing the right thing. My believing this is the only thing that allows me to continually "forgive" my youngest sister, who is a "die-hard" Christian and constantly judges others who don't follow her regimen. I don't agree with her behavior, but I am convinced she truly believes she is "committed to the cause" and believes she is doing the right thing. I have to forgive her ignorance.

Thats a good question, i suppose most people dont really look at it that way but you're right. i guess its because most christians are seemn as being defensive and touchy about what they believe in because its something prescious where as non believers dont go about worshiping the scientists that developed the big bang theory so they are more willing to ignore critisism.

because they thik that they are the only smart people in the world and they really have no lifes. you just have to let it go. if they mock you so what it just shows that they feel threatened by you because you ahve a mind of your own unlike many not most but many of them. just believe in what you belive dont let others crap get to you. you will find that if you just stop caring it wont bother you as much. or religion i the craft of the wise we are ten times smarter than they are. most christians dont even know what their religion is all about they have to have some one tell them(the church) but we search for our answers and our religion on our own, by doing this it makes us stronger and smarter. sooo just dont let them get in your way and stay cool
happy yule everybody

You're sliding in to that religious dogma. You see, things taught to the faithful are treated as 'fact' by them. Saying " Jesus Saves " to them, is like saying " Water is wet ". Saying there is no God is like saying there is no Earth. They hear your words, but it means something different to them.
Now, with that in mind. When they hear preachings of a different faith, it's like praying to a Cadillac. Sure it's a nice car, but not something a sane person would do. They fear for your soul, or they are proud of their faith. They are so proud to be part of their group, that they can be easily swayed by their leaders. I'm sure we've seen examples of this in many faiths. One charismatic preacher, convincing the faithful to do things they wouldn't other wise do.
Well, I'm sure you see where I'm going. Best wishes.

It's always funny to watch the Christians try to justify putting down the other religions by claiming to be the majority and everybody should bend over to them and then they try to play the victim when they get it thrown back at them.
