before they get sick or get irreversible damage to liver and other organs? 5 years? 10 years?

Same as with smokers, it could take 10 years or 40 years, - or never.

I believe that it's totally 'fair' that a smoker gets lung cancer, or a non-smoker gets lung cancer. These 'broken' vessels that we use have no warranty on them from the manufacturer.

So whether you drink a lot and you're brain shrinks, and it compromises relationships, and is a waste of your precious time on earth, - that's the real 'cost'. Not whether your liver falls out at 55 years old.

Look around, you'll see people walking around with dead souls, -and not yet have reached the grave. Don't be one of these people. Fear becoming the "walking-dead", - and don't fear death.

I'm not quite sure but my father has been a heavy drinker [*and smoker] since his early twenties. From right when he got up to right before he slept, he always had a bottle of alcohol and cigarettes to comfort him. I'm amazed that at 71, he isn't suffering from anything and yeah, he still smokes and drinks, unfortunately. He's probably just "lucky".

Sorry I really couldn't answer your question.

Any amount of alcohol is bad for your body. Though the amount of time it takes for drinking to cause fatal damage is different for everyone. It is impossible to determine exactly how much alcohol it takes to shorten a persons life span.

Depends on how heavy, heavy is, and what the alcohol is. Is it beer, wine, or liquor? It can be as early as one year, and as long as twenty years....Don't forget that alcoholism not only affects the liver, but the brain, and the heart muscle. so beware...............

It depends on the person. How heavy they are, family history, and life style.
