I believe while the movie was a bit contrived and exaggerated, it was pretty much on the money regarding the issue of bad eating habits that has become rampant throughout modern society over the past 50 yrs or so. People used to have more home cooked meals and because veges are cheaper than meat, more were consumed. There is also the problem of the amount and type of grease used in cooking most fast foods.
The most devastating effect is exhibited in the increased amount of kids with obesity and related health issues because they are being raised on Mcdonalds and such. We have more kids with diabetes, OSA (obstructed sleep apnea) which is a by-product of having too much soft/fat tissue around the neck. Obsease children as less likely to exercise. They also have emotional issues because others make fun of them and they can develope low self esteem problem. I work in a pediatric hospital and we often have kids come in for chronic contispation, also a problem that comes from a high fat, low fiber diet. Nowadays, because quite often both parents work, the kids are given this type of food. Our kids know about hamburgers, french fries, soda and pizza than any other types of food. The worst part of it , is that the advertising industry aims their big guns right at our children. During cartoons , they are constantly showing commercials advertising these kinds of foods. Look at how they promote their fast food restaurants by putting enticing toys in the "Happy Meals" and putting colorfully appealing playgrounds in to make the kids want to visit those places. Society as a whole as totally changed in how parents are also dealing with children. If the kid fusses and cries because they want to go to Micky D's , the parent will usually give in. Birthday parties have become a staple money maker for pizza parlors like Chucky Cheese. It will take many years for this trend to be turned around but until then we will continue to eat fast food diets, grow fatter, exercise less, get sicker and die younger.

i was forced to watch that movie twice, once by my father and the other for a class i was taking. it didnt change my perception of mcdonalds though. i dont eat there often and never have. however i think its weird how we harp so much on mcdonalds being an unhealthy fast food place when theres also jack in the box, wendys, carls jr and a bunch more places. we forget about them and focus on just one chain, the largest in the world. weird huh?
