I would prefer Mozilla Firefox than Internet Explorer. Mozilla Firefox has a lot of plugins such as NoScript and Fasterfox which allows users to make their web browser even useful to their own needs. Mozilla Firefox also has a very good pop-up blocking system unlike the Internet Explorer which still has a problem with blocking unwanted pop-ups. Internet Explorer also has a tabbed browsing, but compared to Mozilla Firefox, it is not as good as Mozilla as you can download additional plugins such as Tab Session Manager when your computer suddenly shuts down or you accidentally close your browser while you are surfing the net. It is very easy to use Mozilla Firefox! Try It! Also, with plugins such as IETab, users can also use Mozilla Firefox to access pages that only Internet Explorer can access with a single click of the IETab button.

Anyway, there are several information that shows the Mozilla Firefox is much better as compared to Internet Explorer. However, some of them may be outdated so always check for the latest comparison between the two. I think most people would probably say Firefox, but beyond security issues, it's really a matter of preference. Firefox isn't exposed to as many security issues as IE is because the flaws in ActiveX only effect IE. IE 7 (the latest version) has made some strides in improving the browser, but basically they just played catch-up to Firefox.

Ultimately I'd say Firefox is best.

Update: I saw someone posted that Firefox Myths page. Most of those myths are worded so the answers are misleading. That page is as much propaganda as anything you'll find on the net. The guy says it's objective, but I've reviewed it carefully and there are a lot of inaccuracies.

Firefox is the downright winner, but Internet Explorer has the advantage of being a Microsoft product. There may be abnormal behaviour if Internet Explorer is not your default browser. Personally, I keep IE as my default browser, but I use Firefox.

The United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team recommends that you not use IE

"There are a number of significant vulnerabilities in technologies related to the IE domain/zone...It is possible to reduce exposure to these vulnerabilities by using a different web browser"

It is like never ending debate. Just use the one you prefer most, I like to use both of them, nothing wrong with it. Keep updated your windows, at least you will be more secure.

I myself don't trust all the hype about Firefox.
