Im a Sri Lankan, and I was just wondering, how many people know about our island??Also id like to know what you know about us.

I knew this guy from Sri Lanka last quarter at school. I had little respect for him because he was always cheating during tests, quizes, and even homeworks. He was a 4.0 student though. He always talked about this sports called cricket (I have no idea of it). He hated football (not soccer). He looked Indian. He spoke Tamil. He was from Colombo.
As for the country, I only know that it's an island in South Asia, close to India. The capital is Colombo. Languages are Tamil and Sinhala. A lot of people were affected by the last tsumani that hit South East Asia (Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, etc). A lot of bombing in Sri Lanka's cities. Many Sri Lankans have lost their legs or life because of buried land mines from past wars.

I Met a Sri Lankan in college. We spent time talking about the Australoid race.

First of all it's Sri Lanka, not Sri Lanaka.
I know about how their are three prevelent religions in Sri Lanka, all competing for power. Also something about the Tamil Tigers?

I know about Sri Lanka.
'Cause my social studies book have a case study of the war that happened in Sri Lanka last time. If i'm not wrong? Cause i always dozed off in my class. Hohoho!

I spent a week there back in the summer of 1981. It was great. That was before all the fighting up in the north.
I was in the US Navy. My ship docked in Colombo. I visited the temples in Anuradhapura and Kandy. I also climbed up to the top of Sigiriya rock where the ancient fortress used to be.
The food was pretty good and the hotels were okay. The people were friendly.

I am from Sri Lanka.......but now living abroad...
Miss home sometimes......There seems to be alot of misinformation about our country on yahoo answers.
