Ok folks I know I screwed up and misspelled atheist so I suppose I had some of the negative criticism coming. I have an atheistic point of view when it comes to religion. A friend of mine stood up in our senior problems class and announced he was an atheist. I know his family is catholic
so I said no your not. Your catholic, to which he replied with total honesty, in a matter of fact sort of way in order to convince us, " no really, I swear to god I'm an atheist". You can imagine how the class was rolling on the floor laughing . But the funniest part was when we had to explain to him why the whole class was laughing as he stood there in bewilderment repeating the words, "whats so funny".

aperantly some of you are not very clear as to what swearing to something means. You
swear to something because you are trying to convince someone that you are not lying or when you want to keep a promise. This would require you to have total belief ,faith with great conviction in what ever it is that you are swearing to otherwise it wouldn't be
very reassuring now would it.

Dear daizzddre, your question is not very clear. But concerning atheiests, I do not believe that such a person exists. When faced with some life threatening situation people always call out to some form of higher being for help.

I have considered that issue once, face to face with god, and the issue of my atheism comes up. I would stand my ground based on the belief that god is an immoral and selfish being.

surely even a person who believes in god (christian) could swear to allah, budda or an of the otherworldly gods without fear of consequence or are you in a little doubt that you would rather not p1ss anyone off.
