They are just secretive and people don't like or trust that but they will probably help your boyfriend in times of need, like with a good job and such.
Where I live they have Mardi Gras balls and the Masons and different orders can help with the tickets to them.

I've been a Mason for 6 years now and there's nothing bad about them. Please ignore the nonsense conspiracy talk. The Fundamental mission for Freemasons is to serve God and help others. When your boyfriend becomes a Mason you'll see him devoting time and money to various charities across the nation. They do alot of good.
13 US Presidents were Masons. All the founding fathers were Masons. Mozart was a Mason. John Wayne as well. There are Masonic lodges in almost every nation.
Please dont believe the fear mongering being spit out by some of these people. Trust your BF's instincts. If you need more info feel free to write me.
Alos dont believe the nonsense talk about worshipping Lucifer. As you can tell by my other posts here I'm a devout Christian and love God.

I am a Master Mason and I am 30 years old. Now that I have established my credibility on this subject, I will address your issues along with counter-argument for the truth-nay-sayers above me who do not understand basic english vocabulary nor are possessive of the ability to believe fact when it is in front of their eyes. Many of the answers here are false accusations and are a subterfuge of their their own agenda.
Masons are not a cult. See, basic vocabulary dictates quite clearly and inexplicitly that a cult is compromised of RELIGIOUS BELIEFS. A cult will want it's members to follow only their religious beliefs. Masons do not require any man to be religious. Sorry to the nay-sayers above, you need to learn basic english vocabulary before expressing your limited point of view. What is the nay-sayers agenda? Simple, to blaspheme fact that they cannot comprehend.
I should stay on track to answer your question and to not pick apart some of the grotesquely mistaken answers above.
Believe me, there will be people who claim bad things about the Masons and that they have "first hand knowledge" of such. However, with sects, as you claim you are familiar with, you can probably see the warning signs in a person's attitude or disposition. I bet you do not see these signs in your b/f. In fact, I cannot find any reports about the "classic occult attitude exihibited by it's members." Brainwashing is an accusation thrown at Masons, yet none of their members exhibit the mental signs of brainwashing. Neither do they exhibit any psychological signs or symptoms of cohersion or religious punctuation.
A Masonic Logde is present in most nearly every city in the United States. It is the oldest and largest fraternity in the world. Masons take good men and make them better men. And these better men practice charity to the extent of millions of dollars a day. One such charity is the Shriner's Children's Hospital which gives free healthcare to children. Name me one single occult or sect that would do that.
In the information age of today, it is very difficult to keep a secret. Our degrees are plastered all over the internet. When I hear the word "occult" being thrown around, I am one again bewildered at the uneducation of the nay-sayers. See, occult means "hidden". Since all this information is available about the Masons then how can anything about them be occultish?
You need to decide if you like your b/f for who he is rather than getting scared by his associations. I know that some new wives of Masons get jealous because they do not know what their husband is doing in Lodge. Of course the husbands have no idea of what their wives are doing in their sorrorities. Once you get to know your b/f better and if you are able to attend a few of the family functions, then all of your concerns will be relieved because you will be able to talk to the other women.
BTW, I do not trust any woman who is in Kappa Gamma Nu. Did you know that they have a password that they are not allowed to share with anyone? Sounds silly doesn't it. Well, I do not know the passwords for any other college fraternity or sorority other than the one that I belong to. If having a secret password made a group evil, then all would have to be evil.
Good luck with you in the future, but for now, love your b/f for who he is as a person and not for his memberships.

There is nothing bad at all! You should be happy that your boyfriend wants to be a Mason! He is going to be playing a positive role in his community! Would you rather he be at a bar or a club?? There is a lot of negative things he could choose to do and if he wants to be a Mason you should support him! I have been one for 5 years and don't regret it at all. My wife felt some reservations about it at first too, but now she's like whatever! She's cool with it now.

No one talks about this much but my dad was a 32 degree Mason
he worked in construction and had to join to get a job back then. The Mason are into devil worship, Most of the masons do not even know it. I have know many Mason over my life time, they are drunks, abuse there wives and children. This origination could only be compared to the KKK in its rasist tridation. They have a lodge and a temple. At the lodges they have drunken parties and sex. That is right i was there. At the temples they have the north gallery darken with nothing in it as that is were God is located in heaven. So they keep him veiled. And no one ever goes in there. I could go into great detail.
Tell your boyfriend to get out of the Masons or Get a new boyfriend.

The Masons are a Fraternal order that believes in helping others. My Father has been one for 30 years. Ignore the lies being said about Masons. They're really great people that do alot of good. They dont deserve the lies that are told about them.

For a number of reasons, the world view of masons is not compatible with Christianity, and no one can be both a good Christian and a good mason.

It sounds as though you have problems that run deeper than just him belonging to the Freemasons. You are looking to justify this as a wedge to widen the gap you already feel between you and him. Thus you ask in a forum full of people who truly do not know except from what they get on the Internet.
You get some Freemasons answering, but are you going to believe them?
You have a few who quote long sections of Wikipedia, but you could already get that answer yourself.
Then you get one or two people who say "my father was one and he raped my sister, got drunk all the time and worshipped Satan." Ah, there is your answer! You latch onto that, bring it to your boyfriend who is flummoxed by any such accusation. The gulf grows wider.
I am an esoteric Freemason of the American Order of Co-Masonry. We have both women and men, who believe in a Supreme Being, who are tolerant of religions not their own, who are tolerant of all races, who are not slaves to drugs or alcohol, who are over the age of 21, of good character, who wish to improve the world by improving themselves. Yes, we have as many or more women in our Order as men.
We are not a religion. We are a system of morality. We take for our lessons the symbols of ancient stone masons because to change the character of an adult is harder than molding stone. We leave talk of politics and religion outside the door of the Lodge; instead we speak of that Universal which all people of good conscience can agree: Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth.
We are not a sect. We do not recruit. We do not cut people away from their family and friends. But we are humans. Co-masonry is not mainstream Freemasonry. I do not know what your boyfriend and you are experiencing. It would be helpful if you could attend some open ceremonies and meet the Lodge members. Judge for yourself.
In my Order, I know all the way up to the Most Sovereign Grand Commander (most all of us do) and she is kind and compassionate, a vegetarian. We do not even squish spiders in Lodge. If I can be of any help, please feel free to ask. The website below has more info on our particular Order.

log into- christianresearchinstitute. org .... or .com find the information they offer. you could look up masons and christianity on net also. I recall reading something that as they grow deeper into the organization at the highest levels there is a worship of Lucifer... Gods greatest and most beutiful angel who became known as Satan and will be cast into hell. Satan uses all types of methods to trick people from receiveing the gift that Jesus offers of eternal salvation. This is the spiritual realm and it is very very real. I am sure they are nice people who are not aware of what goes on at the highest levels and it is a comfy feel good organization that gets you involved into something you feel in meaningful... look up the info and learn about it.
