It's my little girl's birthday tomorrow and since she will be a year old and has just fought off gastro I think there is enough reasons to celebrate. Any ideas for a doggie cake that I can bake for her and her friends? She is a cocker and given the recent gastro something easily digestible please.

I make my dogs a birthday cake by taking:

1 lb ground turkey breast
1 cup of oatmeal
2 eggs
1/2 cup of shredded carrot

and mixing together, shaping it into a bone shape in a 9x13 inch pan. I then place it in a 400 degree oven for about an hour (but depends on how thick that you leave it). I cool it and then frost it with softened cream cheese which you can color if you want.

I have a dog with "tummy troubles" and this cake doesn't bother him at all, and he loves it.

Also, you can leave out the eggs and use potato flakes (1/2 cup of the instant mashed potatoes) if your dog cannot have eggs.

No no no no no. NO Sweets for dogs.Sugar is very bad for them.It can mess up their glucose (bloodsugar) level & give them diabetes. And No chocolate,,that is toxic to dogs.Iv owned dogs who needed insulin twice a day & some that had seisures if their sugar was too low. Give the doggies a special treat of rawhide chewies. You can buy them for a dollar at the dollar store.Chewie sticks have about a dozen in a pack for a dollar.Get them a ball to play with or some toys. You can feed dogs boiled boneless chicken,,liver,,beef or fish also for something special,,add to their food.Cooled completely. That is the home made diet for a dog when added to rice. How about giving them doggie biscuits too for their special day.Feel free to e-mail me with any questions.I can also give you a list of what not to feed a dog.

I absolutely do not agree with the first responses recipe. No dog should be eating butter, oil and eggs, but definitely not one with gastrointestinal or pancreatic problems. If you want to do something special, take her on adventure to the local pet store to pick out a new toy.
