I recently sent out a check to my credit card's bank. Its been about a week and I have yet to see an update on my online statement saying that they received it. For peace of mind, is it possible that someone could have stolen it and cashed it in? Can you even deposit a check that isnt yours? Thank you

it would have to be signed by the person you wrote it to
in this case it was a bank so I don't think anyone else could cash it

You should call your credit card company. Do not wait for them to tell you. Sometimes the mail takes a while. But you can alway call your bank to cancel the check or just to see if it has been cashed. It's possible for someone to deposit a check that belongs to someone esle. Someone stole my rebate, which has my name on it before. Hope this help!

Sometimes it takes longer than a week during the holidays. With all of the cameras in the stores and banks it is very unlikely that somebody would steal your check and get away with it, but I am sure there are a few morons that would try.

Some banks will and some won't take someone elses check. I don't think any will take it unless you signed the back and added your bank account number. It will probably save you a lot of wory if you just give them a call.

as long as you had your name as the payee on the cheque and crossed not negotiable it would have to be deposited into an account in the same name......
if the cheque was payable to cash then anyone can cash it.....
check with the bank to see if you cheque has been cashed and follow up from there....

Depends. If its a Cash cheque, any bearer is able to encash it. If the cheque has a name written on it then it can only be deposited into that person's account.

most banks will not cash third party checks, especially one written to a credit card company.

Give them a few more days. If they still haven't received it call your bank for advice.

But yes, you can easily cash a check that isn't yours.

Hi there, if they do it will be traceable.
So keep an eye on your account to see when its cleared.

Hope that helps.
