I'm a believer as well, and I can see some points how some Christians are made fun of because of their behaviour such as acting holier than anyone else, or making judgments of others or being offensive by going overboard on witnessing. I believe that if there's a time and place to witness to someone, go ahead and do it, but don't go around pissing people off too.
If more Christians would make a better effort to be Christlike in their thoughts and behaviours (as we're directed to do) things would be so much better.

I'm an atheist and to be honest, with the way Christians behave towards non-Christians (especially on this site) I'm not surprised some people ask questions like you mentioned. Some Christians really do try to dictate other people's lives by trying to push their religion into laws. Some Christians won't leave others alone and keep being in everyone's face with "convert or go to hell you heathen". Some Christians do go around claiming they know the truth and that everyone else is blind and working for Satan and going to hell. Some of them talk about atheists like evil, immoral and stupid less than humans (did you know that when someone asked which was worse: a gang banger or an atheist, most Christians answered an atheist?). Observe the attitude of Christians on this site more carefully and you'll know why people get fed up with them sometimes.
Not that everyone else is innocent and perfect, some non-Christians here are disrespectful and behave badly too, but the Christians seem to do it more than others. They seem to be the most hateful and narrow-minded group here, so it's no wonder they are hated back.
I don't hate Christ or Christians. I know that most Christians are normal, good people. It's the idiotic fundamentalists of every religion that I can't stand and sadly there seems to be quite a lot of Christian fundies here.
I wish everyone could just learn to respect and tolerate each other's beliefs even if they don't agree with them. If people would focus more on getting along with each other rather than proving others wrong or trying to convert them this place would be an interesting source of information and debate rather than a battlefield between religions.
EDIT: Just look at the post above mine. I see dozens of messages like this here every day. Are you surprised that Christians aren't liked very much here when this is how they act?

I agree. That behavior is completely uncalled for. On both sides.
I'm a christian to an extent. Though I don't preach what I practice. I keep my beliefs to myself. I need no one else to tell me if I am right or wrong because I don't even know that. That's why it's called faith.
As for people bashing Christ. Sometimes, They just get tired of having the same stories thrown at them. Some people feel as though they're being guilted into living a certain way.

Some people here regard the R&S section as a contest of wills and ideology. In a way it is, but a hardcore few need a reality check. Some speak as if they are somehow fundamentally changing the human race.
The fact is that the majority of people ignore the R&S section.
Most people would prefer to go onto Polls & Surveys or Singles & Dating.
A lot of it is just for show, so don't worry about it so much.

Atheists don't "hate Christ" because we don't believe in Christ! How much simpler can we make it for you? And once someone tells you they're not interested (atheist or otherwise), why can't you show some basic courtesy and *leave them alone*?
What christians do to Atheists is *piss us off* with your nauseating smugness that only you have "The Truth" and everyone else is wrong. Funny, that's what the muslims say about christians, hindus, buddhists and Atheists, too. What can we conclude about this? Well, religions certainly can't all be right, can they? But they CAN all be WRONG!!

All religions think they are the one right way. All of those who have no beliefs think those who do believe in a higher power are crazy. People today are far too rude and ignorant to smile and nod when someone says "God bless you." It is not something said as an insult but yet many, mostly atheists, take it wrong and become defensive.
People claim sharing Christian beliefs in the US is disrespectful but no one ever says anything when a non-Christian disrespects us. It's okay for atheists, muslims, and the like to be rude to us but it is unconstitutional for us to retaliate and defend ourselves.
God bless you all. If you don't like that simple phrase, just smile and nod. It's called common courtesy, something this world is lacking in ALL belief systems.
And yes, I'm Christian and I have friends of many faiths. I don't disrespect them and they don't disrespect me.

I guess those people are just filled with hate. I'm an atheist and I feel the same way as you. They're not making me want to go walk with the Lord and live life as liars.

Yes I agree that Christianity can be narrow minded sometimes. For example condemning Hinduism when they don't know about it and saying Hindu gods are fake and they are cow worshippers when they believe in one god in different forms and incarnations. They believe the whole Universe is gods creation as well as everything in existance. No Hindu people do not start bad things about Christians though.Even if they discriminate us we praise them. Its pretty wrong but we are taught to condemn no other faith.

I don't think anybody hates Christ. I think everybody hates Christians. Christ and Christians are completely different. You cannot even compare the two. I probably would have liked Jesus. He seemed like a very cool guy, probably honorable and upstanding. On the other hand, Christians are anything but... They are really annoying.

well, some ppl dont know your christ, but than again there are some that dont believe in wicca religion.the fact that some doesnt want to believe in the christian religion is up to them.you cannot change their beliefs no matter how hard you try.the person has got to wanna go tto your religion or whatever religion.there are many ppl out there that doest believe in the christian religion or wicca religion.but the main point is that you are happy with the religion that you are following.let no other person down your faith.always keep a positive attitude in your heart about your religion.if ppl dont wanna follow your religion, than let them go.this is a hard thing to do the fact of trying to keep a positive attitude on your religion with other ppl downing it or saying that they are not happy of the path that you've chosen.i have that all of the time with my wicca beliefs.but i keep strong on my path.I hope that this helps you some and that you keep up a positive faith for your religion.if not, than it is no religion for you to follow.
May the Goddess bless you,
